That is the best phrase I can think of to describe this summer. It is going by much too quickly. Next week is my last week of my summer schedule (sob!) and then I'm back to work full time as of Monday the 20th. I am just not ready. I'm not ready to be laying out clothes and packing lunches at night, to be seriously menu planning and doing all the food shopping in one weekly shop, to be sitting inside toiling away at my desk when the weather is just screaming "it is a beautiful beach day!". I'm not ready to send the girls to the sitter every day, and to have rushed, hectic mornings trying to get us all ready and out of the house on time.
Oh well, I guess it is coming, whether I want it to or not. I hope next week is full of beautiful weather so I can soak it all in. And, I guess it is better to have had a wonderful summer and not want to see it end, than the alternative. And I really have had a great one, in spite of some moments of losing my patience and my mind with the girls. Best of all, I know that they have had a great summer, too.
We've had a very nice several days, visiting with Alyssa and Kayleigh. The hot, hot, hot (did I say hot?) and humid weather broke the other day, and we had a gorgeous day on the beach yesterday. MaryBeth, Scott, and the boys joined us, and Evan even came down for the entire day (it was his birthday), and it was a good time. Sadie spent the whole day boogie boarding, jumping in the breakers, and jumping in (as in, head totally submerged) the 'big pool.' All of a sudden, she seems to have lost her fear and has become a water baby. This makes me so happy! And, this makes her very tired (which also makes me happy). She could barely keep her eyes open last night.
Anyway, today is rainy (but, I don't mind, since I'm at work today), so she should have a low-kep day up at my mom's. She's got riding lessons at 4:30, then we're having dinner with Evan's family, and then, weather permitting, Evan is taking her to the OT festival to see the fireworks. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful, so I'm sure we'll hit the beach again, and then, tomorrow night, Evan and I are celebrating his birthday with a kid-free dinner out with friends. Can't wait! We're going to a place on the boardwalk in Asbury, and did I mention that it is kid-free? I'm giddy at the thought.

Odds and Ends
Nothing terribly exciting to report, but in the spirit of this being a record of my life, I guess I'll find a few things to mention ;)
We had another beautiful day at the beach today. Normally, we do errands or the playground or story hour in the morning, then I let Eden nap for ninety minutes and we head down to the beach right after she wakes up and spend the afternoon there. But today we needed to be back early for Sadie's riding lesson, so we deviated from the norm and headed out right after breakfast. We went down early (before 10), and while the morning is definitely not my favorite time of day to be on the beach, it was kind of nice to enjoy the relative quiet before it gets really crowded.
We ate lunch there and then headed back home around 1pm, so I could get Eden down for a nap and let Sadie chill out a bit before her lesson. Sadie ended up falling asleep in the car on the way out to the stable (she was wiped from the ocean, I think), but she rallied upon waking and had a great lesson. We have decided to do her birthday party there. I'm relieved to have sorted out what we are doing, as she just got an invitation to another party that will be the week before hers - who are these uber organized mothers who manage to send out invitations six weeks in advance?!
Anyway, we ended the day with dinner out tonight, which was a nice change from the norm (must be the theme of the day), and now I'm just about to go to bed. We've got a busy weekend ahead (my SIL and niece are coming up from Maryland tomorrow and on Sunday it is our other niece's first birthday party - we're also having Sadie's friend Olivia's family over for dinner tomorrow night...) so I'll probably be scarce until I'm back at work on Monday.
