I ingested...

a scary amount of food today. I don't know what's up, but I've been famished all day. I came into work, ate my breakfast (cottage cheese and strawberries, how healthy!) and then immediately polished off my lunch. So, of course at lunch, I had to eat something else.

I feel like a lump.

I need to get to the gym again tonight.

Need to hit the Gym

It has been days since I've had any sort of workout. Last week's schedule was so hectic with various lunchtime activities that I was only able to make it to the gym once, and ride my bike in to work once. I can feel the difference already. I'm not sleeping so well, and I've been in a lousy mood for days.

So, I already put Evan on notice. Tonight, after I get Eden down (7ish), I'm heading to the gym.

Monday, again.

Random thoughts on the weekend, in no particular order of importance:

  • Someone needs to tell Mother Nature that it is spring. Because, 40 degree days in April are no fun.
  • I didn't actually make it to the gym on Friday. Well, that's not true. I did make it there, but in the locker room, I discovered that I'd forgotten to pack my workout pants, so, needless to say, I didn't go work out. I did steal away for an hour on Saturday and get a really good workout in, so I almost kept to my Friday promise.
  • Teething stinks. Seriously. And that is all I'm going to say about that for now.
  • I love my husband, he is, seriously, the most amazing person and husband. And that is all I'm going to say about THAT for now ;-)
  • We have a couple of great friends, Jeff and Anonda, who live in the city. We don't see nearly enough of them, but they came down Friday night and stayed over. It was great to see them, and I love that we can just pick up where we left off each time we see them.
That's all for now. Maybe after another cup of coffee, I'll perk up enough to write something more substantial.

I Will Work Out Today...I Will Work Out Today...I Will...

I've been a bit of a slacker in the going to the gym department this week. I went Monday, and Tuesday, I rode my bike into work (so, that counts as my workout), but Wednesday and yesterday, I just couldn't get motivated.

So, now it is Friday, and if I don't go today, chances are, I won't have a chance again until Monday. So, I'm going. Really. I am!

Evening Bike Ride!

Ok, I foolishly didn't take any pictures, but last night, the Cotler family took our first family bike ride. The girls LOVED riding in the trailer, and Evan and I had a great time just pedaling around the neighborhood. We didn't really stray too far from home -- just as far as Deal Lake, but we meandered all around Interlaken and just had a great first ride.

Tomorrow morning we're doing a dry run on the route I'll be taking to work.

I see many family rides in store for us this spring/summer. :D

Walking the Walk

Actually, riding the ride would be more appropriate.

So, back when we decided to relocate down here, and I realized I'd be living and working within just a few miles from each place, I conjured up this fantasy of riding my bike to work from time to time. When we lived in Newton, I did occasionally ride into work in Boston. This was never a very enjoyable experience, as it was a 10+ mile ride along major thoroughfares and through the urban jungle. Once I got pregnant, then moved a couple miles further out, then had a baby who had to be deposited at a sitter's house before I could begin my commute in to the city, this activity became a thing of the past.

Of course, once we got down here, a few other things, including getting settled at work, getting Sadie established at school, finding and moving into our home, having another baby, to name a few, sort of kept that idea as a fantasy.

But, as you know from some of my other posts, I'm on this 'self-improvement' kick, and for a few months now, I've been talking about buying a bike trailer and riding to work once the weather got nice. It is one of those things where I sort of feel that the more people I tell that I am going to do it, the less likely I will be to back out, you know?

My plan is to drop Eden at her sitters, (2.2 miles), then drop Sadie at school (1.8 miles) and leave the trailer there and cruise the rest of the way to work (2.6 miles) untethered. So, really, it is only 4 miles of hard work (hauling a combined weight of 92 lbs) and then I pass go. What's the worst that can happen? I drop dead of a heart attack? The girls wail and complain the entire way?

So, now, here we are. The weather is getting nice. It is time to start doing it. And, while I am somewhat daunted at the prospect of hauling two kids to their respective drop-offs, I am motivated by the thought of those spring/summer evening solitary rides home down Ocean Avenue. What could be better?!?!

So, I need to get moving on things.

Step one: I need to buy one of these:

Step 2: I need to either put pedals on my bike or get a new pair of these:

Step 3: Just do it!!!!

I will update on this shortly....hopefully, I'll be doing this by the end of this month. Wish me luck.

I almost forgot to mention

See the hottie on the left? That's me! Er, that will be me. What I mean is, I bought that bathing suit this weekend, and while it looks a bit, er, different on me than it does on that freakishly skinny and unmarred by the wrath of multiple pregnancies and breastfeeding model with the glowing mocha skin, it doesn't look too bad on me, either! Thank god for the uplifting powers of the halter tie top, and the full coverage powers of the boy short, is all I'm sayin'.

I haven't worn a bikini in years, but I've been working out and really trying to get back into shape, and am very excited to wear one this summer.

Bring it!

Me

I've been working on me these days. After kind of neglecting myself for the better part of a year, I've started working out again. I go during my lunch hour at work. I've really been enjoying it, and I can see a difference in how my clothes fit, though the scale doesn't show much progress.

Oh, and I also got a kicky new haircut the other day (see above). Cute, no? I even bought a flat iron. Let's see how long I have the patience for that.

Anyway, I'm going to try to be better about posting. See you...soon (I hope).
