Our house is full of windows and light, and I love that about it. However, it has a design flaw that is really becoming a problem. The windows in the bedrooms are the high up kind. These are great because it maximizes the wall space in the room without sacrificing light. Our room and Sadie's have five windows each, and Eden's has three. The problem with them, though, is that the only kind of window treatment that looks good on them are shades or blinds. Curtains, in my opinion, look silly, because they'd have to be really short and then they would give off that 'puppet show' effect. Plus, at this stage with Eden, it is still really important to entirelyh block out the morning light, unless we all feel like getting up at 5am. So, black out shades are a must for her room.
So, the fact that we are limited in the window covering isn't so much the issue as is the fact that if you have blinds or shades mounted, you can't put the screens on those windows. Which really stinks because it means that we can't really take advantage of the slightly cooler evenings and turn the air conditioning off and open windows for sleeping. Well, we do, sometimes have the windows in the other rooms open and run the ceiling fans in the bedrooms, but it isn't as nice as having an outside breeze directly coming in to the bedroom.
Eventually, we will need to replace the windows in the house, and this problem may go away, but for now it is my biggest gripe with the place.
