...was actually kind of wonderful. We spent the weekend down in Maryland, visiting Evan's sister and family. We had such a good time. It was very relaxing, in the kind of way that we never seem to manage at home. Lots of eating, drinking, sitting around and watching the kids have fun. My niece has gotten so big since I last saw her. She is really smiley and interactive now. Sadie got a big kick out of her, and even Eden seemed somewhat interested.
It is neat to think that soon enough, the three of them will be so excited to see eachother on these visits, and causing all kinds of trouble together. Maybe we'll even be able to convince Alyssa and Jim to join us on our Orlando vacation when the time comes.
We visited a petting zoo, which was a big hit (though, it was SO hot), and we brought along a blow up kiddie pool, so the girls enjoyed splashing around in that. Other highlights (for the girls) included ice pops after dinner and a bath in the big jacuzzi tub. Don't you wish you found as much pleasure in such small things, too?
We were planning to stop at Longwood Gardens again on the way back, but the weather wasn't cooperating, and honestly, both kids were pretty wiped out, after a weekend of not enough sleep. So, we just headed straight home and continued the theme of the weekend by relaxing and eating and watching TV once got back. Amazingly enough, I didn't even feel compelled to log on and catch up on email and news and message board posts until this morning. Sometimes, it is just nice to be unplugged for a few days.
